Teaching content

      1. Listen, point and find “want to”. 
      Simon’s dad: Do you want to visit the UN building in New York? 
      Simon: Yes. We do! 
      Daming: What a big building! 
      Simon:Look at all the flags! 
      Daming: Yes.Here’s a flag from all around the world. 
      Simon’s dad: That’s right.They’re from 191 countries. They want to bring  peace to the world. 

      Simon’dad: Do yo want to go to inside? 
      Daming: Yes,please! 
      Simon:Dad, I want to show Daming the present rom China. 
      Simon’s dad: Okay! 
      Daming: What is it? 
      Simon: Here it is. It's a train. 
      Daming: It’s beautiful. I want to take a photo. 
      Simon’d dad: It says, “From the People’s Republic of China,1974.” 
      Daming: What a fantastic present! 

      Teaching Aims: 
      1.Knowledge objectives: 
      (1)Vocabulary: building, all around, peace, inside, show 
      (2)Sentence: Do you want to …? Yes, of course!/No, I don’t. 
      I want to …. 
      2. Technique objective: To understand the text and know how to express and ask intentions with “want to”. 
      3. Emotional objective: To know how to cooperate with each other by talking about travel plan and strengthen confidence in learning English. 
     

     Teaching Key Points: 
      1. Important points: Understanding the text and talk about the text. 
      Do you want to …? Yes, of course! 
      I want to …. 
      2. Difficult points: The pronunciations of “says” and “the People’s Republic of China”.


      Teaching Procedures:

      Step I: Warm-up 
      1. Greeting. 
      2. Revision 
      Do you want to …? 
      Yes, I do. 
      No, I don’t.

      Step II: Introduction 
      Make the students talk about the UN building on their own by showing them some useful pictures. 
      1. Show pictures of the outside of the UN building and present new words and sentences. 
      2. Show cartoons of the inside of the building and ask the students to think what we can see inside the building.

      Step III: Presentation 
      1. Learn the text. 
      (1) Look, listen and answer. 
      T: Today, your friends Daming and Simon also want to visit the UN building, what do they want to do? 
      (2) Listen, read and draw the answers. 
      (3) Read the text in groups and pairs. 
      2. Retell the story by filling in blanks. 
      3.Talk about want to do. 
      Show the sentences and ask the students: what do they find?

      Step IV: Practice 
      Talk about a travel plan: 
      I want to visit ______. I want to go by _____. I want to go with my ______. 
      I want to _________, ___________and _______________.

      Step V: Summary and homework 
      1. Review what we have learnt today. 
      2. Retell the story with your classmates. 
      3. Surf the Internet to get more information about the UN.
