Teaching aims:
      1. Learning the new words and phrases of this unit:
          soup, sweets, bread, biscuit, fruit,
          I’m sorry, turn on the light.
      2. Practicing the key sentences: Can I have some…?
          Yes, you can. / Sorry, you can’t.
      3. Trying to understand the story and retell the whole story
Teaching key points:
      1. Learning the words of food and the dialogue: Can I have some…?
         Yes, you can. / Sorry, you can’t.
      2. Acting out the whole story with your partners.
Teaching procedures:

Step1: Warm-up
     1. Good morning, boys and girls. I’m your new teacher. My name is Tracy.
You know nothing about me. But after the following game, you’ll know much more about me. I’ll tell you something about me, if you are the same as me, please say: Me, too, and put up your hands. Now let’s begin, listen to me carefully!
       I have two hands. 
      I’m a girl. 
      I can run. 
      I like listening to music. 
      I like bananas. 
      I like apples. 
      2. Who likes apples? I like apples very much. Apples and bananas are all fruit.
What other fruit? Do you know? Tell us please. 
      Oh, so many words of fruit, it makes me hungry. 
      Are you hungry? Look at the picture, what do you like? Tracy likes cake  very  much. 
      (Learning the new words of food: soup, sweets, bread, biscuit, fruit) 
      

      Step 2: Presentation 
      1. I’m hungry. I like all the food, they are delicious. There’s a little girl, she’s also very hungry. Please watch the cartoon and tell me: Who’s the girl? Is she hungry? 
      (Listen to the dialogue the first time and answer the two questions) 
      2. The little girl is so hungry, what food does she want? 
      Do you know? Does she want an apple? 
      (Watch the cartoon again and do the exercise: listen and tick) 
      3. Amy wants some soup, some sweets and some bread, what does she say?
(Listen to the sentence and try to ask in the same way) 
      Practice the drills: Can I have some…? 
      Yes, you can. / Sorry, you can’t. 
      Amy wants to eat something, but her mother doesn’t give them to her. 
      What does her mother say? 
      Do you think Amy’s mother is a good mother? Maybe she’s not good. 
      4. Say a chant: Can I have some…? 
      5. Let’s listen and read the dialogue, then act it out, read the dialogue in roles. 
      (Mother and Amy) 
      6. You did a good job, you are all good actors. 
      Amy wants some food, but her mother doesn’t give them to her. 
      Why does her mother do that? Let’s see. 
      Look at the picture, is it bright? No, it’s dark. We can’t see anything. 
      Is our classroom dark now? 
      (Listen to the tape and try to follow it.) 
      7. Wow, it’s bright again. What’s the matter now? 
      Look at the picture, who are in the picture? 
      What are the children say to Amy? 
      What can you see on the table? 
      What is mum saying to Amy? 
      (Talk about the pictures and fill in the blanks, then practice the dialogues in pairs) 
      8. Look at the last picture, Amy is moved, can you see her tears? 
      Now tell me Amy’s mother is good or bad. 
      I think she’s a good mother. She gives Amy a big surprise. Do you think so? 
      

     Step 3: Consolidation 
      1. Open your books, read the whole story by yourself. 
      2. Show time: 
      You can read the story, and then you can get 3 stickers. 
      Tell the story, and then you can get 5 stickers. 
     

      Step 4: Homework 
      1. Read the story nicely. 
      2. Try to act out the whole story.
